A dark mode feature is being planned by Microsoft to be introduced to its Outlook.com mail service. Although a temporary dark mode for Halloween was already introduced by the software giant last year, they have still been working on a newer version of the dark mode for the outlook.com since the past few months. Microsoft has also started to mention that the new Dark mode will be available soon so users are now eagerly waiting for the mode to be released.
“One of the reasons for the delay is our persistence that we bring the best Dark Mode of any primary email client (you’ll understand when you see it, I guarantee)," describes an Outlook.com team member in a feedback post. “The sneak preview you viewed last year at Halloween was a prototype that required a lot more work to be ready for prime time." Microsoft states it has updated the colors and code “several times," and it’s in the decisive phase of presenting the new theme in Outlook.com.
Dark mode changes the background and many other elements into darker shades making it easier for eyes to see. Normally the text is black and the background is white. But in dark mode, the text will become lighter and the background will become darker. Dark mode has already been introduced in mobile phone Operating Systems like Android and iOS. Google’s email service, Gmail also has a dark mode which you can enable by going to Settings –> Themes.
One of the most vastly demanded features of Microsoft’s web mail service is the Dark mode for outlook.com, as per the listings on the outlook.com feedback website. Hotmail web service was replaced with outlook.com which was originally introduced six years ago, and it now has around 400 million active users. A new version started rolling out back in March as Microsoft had been tuning its web mail service ever since with updated features.
Feedback about Outlook.com’s dark mode theme has been mixed until now. Many users feel that the outlook is terrible while others think that the mode was necessary to be introduced. It would be interesting to see what would be the feedback from the users as finally the new dark mode theme is introduced to the web mail service.
When dark mode is introduced in Outlook.com, you will be able to enable it by going to Settings –> Theme.
